A Young Boy Searching for a Home
Home… when I think of home I think of a warm comforting place that is inviting and a place to go when you need loving. “ Good news, boys! Since the school year is over you both are going to be moved into contemporary homes;” this quote was said by the director of the adoption home, and she is telling Bud and his friend that they are going to be able to live with a family. This quote shows how Bud the main character is living life, moving from place to place, searching for a home. In this book Bud Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis Bud, Caldwell is a young boy searching for a home. But that doesn’t come easy and he fights through leaps and bounds to find a home. The mode in this story is comedy and it is very amazing how much Bud Caldwell changed throughout the novel. The mode of this story is Comedy. In the beginning it is normal everyday life Bud is in a home with his friends eating lunch. But then conflict arises one of their teachers comes to over to them and breaks some news to them that they are going to live with a family. He was told that there was an older brother in this family. He is a little worried. Then the conflict is fully realized by bud. He realizes that he needs to find his dad. And the rest of the story is Bud trying to find his dad in the real world. While living with this family. And finally Bud finds his dad in Grand Rapids. He is very glad to find his dad and life goes back to normal everyday life. Where he goes and lives with his dad and is a happy boy.
The mode of literature is important but I think that the most important thing in this story and the part that kept me into the story was how much Bud Caldwell changed in this story from being a scared boy to a man that is willing to do anything to find his father. In the beginning of the story he went to the families’ house him and his brother were fighting and getting in an agreement and his “brother” told the parents and said that buddy did it and Buddy got a punishment of going into the shed alone. In the lonely and depressing shed Buddy saw a bee hive and he hit hive with a shovel and he got swarmed, and stung a horrible amount of times, and was sad and depressed after that horrific scene. But Buddy grows a large amount he has the courage to go find his dad. This takes a lot to leave you home and so called family to find your dad. I really was amazed that he did that.
This book was a very amazing story and kept me hooked to the book. After every chapter it seemed that it left you with something to think about and made you want to read on. Bud is a very huge part of this book. He inspires you and really makes you think what it would be like if you didn’t have a home and you had to search for the only family member that you now. It is just amazing..
